Thanks so much for stopping by Rachel. That was very sweet of you to leave me a "welcome". I would add you to my friends list but since today is my first day, I am not quite sure how to do that yet, still working out the kinks.
First of all, you should be able to hover over a user's picture and add them to your neighborhood (family friend or neighbor). You can also go to Connect (in the header) and search for users to add to your neighborhood.
The "this is good" feature is sort of like giving a thumbs up on a post. It's treated much like comments, the user will see that somebody has said this is good in their comments section on the dashboard.
I lived in SF last year. Actually hated living there and moved back to the Sacramento area (I hope they make a Sacramento design for the blog page. Robots may be cool, but Sactown would be cooler!).
I love visiting SF, it's a wonderful city, just not a place for me to live.
Thanks for the welcome Rachel, are you the official VOX Welcome Wagon or do you just like to stop by and say hello?
I wish I lived around SF still, but I moved out to the "right coast" from Santa Cruz about 13 years ago. I may come back to California to retire but as long as I am still working I have no desire to live in the bay area, or any of the other metropolitan areas that have ALL of the jobs. I would love to retire to Northern California above Sacramento.

Poke around and give it a good test drive!
Thanks for being the first to welcome me to Vox, Rachel! I'm loving these blog designs- have changed mine 3 times already!
Thanks for the welcome Rachel! Lovely blog, lovely lady - pleased to meet you! :)
I don't see SanFran, I see a green hilly scene with little trees.
Not quite, not so fast! You may be trying to decieve us! May you actually live in Boise.
San Francisco is my favorite place that I can't afford. On the mainland at least.
Thanks for the welcome to Vox, Rachel :-)

Oh so that's what San Francisco looks like! Pretty. :D
I'd love to go to SF !
I live in Paris. It is also beautiful, though it is surely less sunny !
Andrea is quite possibly the only person I've ever seen prefer Suckramento to the City, but to each their own. One more parking space for me!
Thanks for the help. 415 for life!
Highatus, that's the funniest comment left so far. Thanks for the laughs.
I live in Ventura and work in Santa Barbara. I think I enjoy both cities.
