Skier dies at Heavenly Resort

wow, that does sound scary. Maybe someday you can tell us what happened to you.

a couple seasons ago I was snowboarding and caught an edge. Took a spill and my head whipped back and hit ice. I eventually blacked out so I don't remember much but they had to fly me off the mountain. I had broken a blood vessel on my brain and it formed a clot. (subdural hematoma). I was flown to a trauma center and underwent emergency brain surgery.

I woke up and I was blind.

I eventually got my eyesite back and they handed me baggy with one of my pig-tail braids in it! They shaved half my head. I mean smooth as a baby's butt.

But I feel great now. No lingering problems... well I forget words occasionally but overall I'm grateful. And wear my helmet!

WOW. that is a crazy story rachel. i definitely treasure my helmet. and will do more so after hearing that story.

That was so kind of you to share your story. So sorry you had to experience such a traumatic accident and endure all that you did, from brain surgery to temporary blindness. You have passed on such an important message to people to be sure to wear a helmet, whether it be while snowboarding, skateboarding, biking or any other sport whenever there is a possibility of falling and hitting one's head ... very relieved that you are feeling great now with no lingering problems!!
hey rachel, did you ever see the Bourne Identity? I'm just saying...
yeah, but i don't really remember what it was about :)
